So if analog sound sounds “warmer” because of smoother high end, just put an eq on it. There, saved you a few thousand bucks.

The difference is very subtle, but the 1st one sounds a bit better like it has the high gain on an EQ turned up a bit more than the 2nd one, so it’s a bit fuller and warmer than the 2nd.

Though the analog (2nd) is warmer, it is also muddier. I believe it is possible, however, that a comparison of a different analog synth and a digital emulator may show a difference that, more or less, only boils down to warmth.

While the first one may sound a bit harsher while played solo in a mix it will sound miles better. You need to boost the clarity of the second one to properly hear it in the mix

2nd analog. It sounds more full and warm

It can be pretty difficult to tell (depending on the synths used) when just using dry waveforms in this manner. Analog synths really set themselves apart when going through their signal paths (amps, filters, envelopes etc..) and then really come alive in the mix. I think the easiest and most clear example of this would be either a simple square-wave bass on a classic moog or a simple pad on an prophet 5 vs a vst replica or quality digital hardware synth. Although some analog synths are one trick ponies, it’s really hard to find a close second to match what they’re good at in my opinion.

I can hear a big difference but I can't tell which one is the analog. 1st is louder and brighter than 2nd one. For me, option 2 is analog. I should ask friends (who are not producers) if they can notice and IF THEY CARE.

I can hear the difference, but idk which one is analog and digital.

2 is analog it feels like it just cuts come of the sound out not quite sure what but its almost like it when the an eq.

I think the real difference comes when you play some more complicated stuff, like chords and use more complex presets. Here's where the real warmth and fat of an analog synth can be heard. Playing just one note with like one oscillator is not enough for the ear.
Also pitch bends is where the digital has a resolution problem, where analog is resolution less.

Is it a way for the first one to get that heavy round low end sound like the second one?

What’s the answer? Thanks for watching!

my initial reaction is #2 being analogue

the second one is analog because it sounds like its underwater

Analogue definitely the second due to some of the slightly more natural harmonics and the duller sound. Digital are really good for just being whatever you need them to be, but analogue synths tend to be much better at sounds that require a bit more harmonic content. The filters will be where you really hear the difference. A plain sawtooth waveform isn't going to tell you much.

The first one was highly pitched as compared to second

Second is analog because its feels more harmonic

No. I can only hear the difference in brightness but I don’t consider that a huge determine factor

The difference is -7.7 &-7.6 maybe ???

1st one is definitely digital. 2nd one is analog.
