If you REALLY wanna prank someone, do that when they're on the tracks. That oughta leave some skid marks! :)

At least everyone at the crossing is educated, and stooped to actual look if a train was coming, Long, Long, Short, Short!

People here seemed to be confused as to how railroad crossing signals work. So I’ll educate. No blowing a train horn at a railroad crossing does not activate the crossing signals and gate, although that’s how it appears to work. Because of this, a train horn from a vehicle will not confuse the signals either. The reason for a trains horn is simply for the same exact reason your vehicle is also equipped with a horn. Crossing signals and gates are activated by activation pads, or by speed sensors on the newer systems. Activation pads are located 100 yard on either side of the crossing, in older systems, and all it is is an electrical circuit switch, that is activated when then the first wheel and axle of the locomotive completes the circuit between the the switch and rails. When the circuit is made, the switch will send an electrical signal down the rail to a signal house, it looks like a big stainless steel box beside the crossing off to the side, the signal box then completes a circuit with that signal from the activation pad telling the system there is a train, or some kind of railroad machine on the line coming through, and activates the signals and gates. What turns them off, is the same process but instead of getting a signal, it’s when the last wheels and axle pass over the activation pad on the opposite end of the crossing, the system then losses that completed circuit, and deactivates the signals, and raises the gates. The second method, using speed sensors detects a trains speed, and then activates the signals in accordance of how fast the train is going, for better timing, or if a train has a really slow approach to the crossing, and stops short of the crossing completely, the signals and gates will then deactivate to let traffic through, to prevent dense traffic jams. This system is more commonly used in densely populated towns and cities, with high vehicular traffic. Out in the rural areas with light traffic you’ll most commonly find the old activation pad systems still in use, since a blocked crossing, is way less problematic in those areas for light vehicular traffic. What’s going on in this video, that makes the signals appear to react to his train horn on his truck, is actually either a a short circuit from the activation pad on the rail to the signal house, causing a brief activation without warning, or there’s a railroad maintenance crew in the signal house working on it, and are testing the function of it by manually, activating the signals from inside the signal house. That’s why trains have horns. If they’re working on something, or it’s malfunctioning, just stop, look, and listen.

This prank is so funny. Your just waiting at the crossing and you decide to pull off the biggest Christmas or april fools prank and just blow your horn and confuse the signals and people. I wish I could do that.

Imagine being annoyed by a train horn and in his frustration, he accidentally yell "dumbass". You probably thought, "Who's the dumbass now?"
