In this Karate tutorial you'll learn a Ryuei Ryu kata Ohan Dai from Okinawa - the birthplace of Karate. This form consists of techniques from Anan Dai, Paiku, Pachu, Heiku and Ohan. For this reason it's an advanced kata performed at higher levels. It's also used by world champions like Ryo Kiyuna at WKF competitions (K-1 Premier League). Good luck!

Interesting how this kata utilizes such a variety of stances from high to low, linear and angular. Very good demonstration. Impressive.

Jesse I practiced Taekwondo for 17 years, and I have to say that your kata performance is easily the best I've ever seen, truly world class. You humble me with your skill and your knowledge. Thank you so much for doing what you do.

I am really impressed by the way some of the movements sound like thunder when you do them. Between the steps and the gi rustling, then there's me who sounds like a kitten's sneeze

VERY dynamic kata ! ! Thanks for showing us. That's a young man's kata, demanding the speed and strength of youth.

Looked fun. I was sitting while watching but imitating the hand movements. I haven't been big on trying karate, however, learning katas is kinda the main reason I wana get into it.

The timing is great! This helps me to remember the info from the online seminar recently from Sakumoto Sensei's dojo. You are always staying ahead, and are very open to sharing with others. Thank you! Since you're asking, Ohan or Anan-Dai from the two angles would be great. Respectfully appreciated.

Both the execution AND the explanation are just mind-blowing, that's the difference between a simple Athlete and a true Master!!! Keep up the excellent job, Jesse-sensei, hyvin menee!!!

Your precision and stances are just incredible. The way you articulate each movement along with demonstrating is mastery. Thank you for posting

Absolutely love the kata. Mainly because it is soooo different and counterintuitive from shotokan. It forces your brain to adapt. I think watched it way over 100 times to learn it :). Thank you Jesse!!
