i tied half a dozen early this AM for buddies to use on the St Mary's river in southeast British Columbia but i used stacked elk hair instead of CDC. they called an hour ago to tell me what i'm missing being at home ( i hate them sometimes ). between them they have released 30+ cut-throat trout and bust off a large rainbow. thanks for the pattern. never seen one here.

Nice tie. I like simple easy. Thank you for sharing. I have all the materials. I am learning to do more midge tying. I only have a 3-mile dam tailrace, that is stocked with Rainbow Trout 1 x per month. The water is 50 degrees year-round and Gin Clear. After sun up I dead drift a No.18 hares ear nymph with a gold bead head it is slow but it works well. Midges do hatch but it's rare. There really is no true hatch. This summer the fishing was mostly small ants and little bugs in the water from the trees. This pattern will work. I think early and late. I am not sure. I will try to tie this one. What size hook do you tie on? I have thousands of Mustad hooks all shapes and sizes. I do well on the vintage hooks.
