introducing Spanish Broom AKA Spartium Junecum

Показать описание
Another of Rogers favourite summer flowering shrubs, this one is amazingly tolerant of poor soils and cold winters - especially with its 'Spanish name' and exotic looking blooms.
As Roger mentioned it can get a little untidy but that is easily solved with some trimming either just after winter in early spring or just after flowering.
I have seen them growing in shade but you will probably get more flowers and neater growth in a sunny area.
It can tolerate cold winter weather down to - 10C or less, if it does get winter damage just prune back and feed in early spring and they will usually grow back quite quickly.
It can get to about 7 - 8 foot high and 6 foot across, but as mentioned above it is quite tolerant of trimming to contain the size and shape.

I grow one in Vancouver, Canada. In summer, the shrub grows fast with plenty of tiny yellow flowers full of fragrance and aroma. Bravo.👋👌✌

I think it smells similar to a gardenia, very aromatic.

Where’s it native to? It’s invasive in California.

I think this plant's flowers smell of bubble gum - any other suggestions ... what do you think they smell of ...?
