My love affair with the humble shawarma started when I moved to Dubai 20 years back and I am still here. But I have to admit when I travelled to Jordan and Lebanon, the shawarma there were at a completely different level (Arabic food in general, even falafels). I can only imagine how good the shawarmas might be in Syria (considering how good the Aroos Damascus Shawarma is here in Dubai) or Palestine (Mamaesh in Dubai is amazing as well). I wish I get to have them someday.

You must try the spicy shawarma at "Hot burger" and also the shawarma at any "Eat and drink" restaurant. Imo Barbar is becoming undisputed #1. Much better quality of meat than Laffah which is getting oily and dry with time.

You should try one of the oldest shawarma places in Deira. I see it as the best in the Deira area. Al furat restaurant near fish round about.
It's most definitely better than any shawarma places in rigga. Give it a try.

Am I the only who thinks that all shawarmas are the same? Because nothing could beat the taste of it. I wanna eat in all of these restaurants whether if it’s breakfast, lunch or dinner, the taste is one of the most satisfying than any other food.

I lived in Dubai from the 70's to the 90's and loved the shawarma there. I just got back from Dubai 2023 and sorry to say I tried loads of them and NOT ONE came close to what they where like back then. No shawarma had chips in it, the bread is different, spices different etc. Its a shame modernisation is not always a good thing. I actually couldn't even finish one as was so disappointed. Tried so hard to find an original one but no joy.
