Africa Oil Week Conference | Namibia made major oil and gas discoveries last year and early 2022

The Africa Oil Week Conference 2022 is under way in Cape Town. The conference intends to advance Africa's energy access, security and sustainability. Speaking on the second day of the international gathering, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Gwede Mantashe said government will challenge all cases at the Constitutional Court that interdict government against gas and oil exploration. U.S. Department of Energy Deputy Secretary David Turk also addressed the conference earlier today.

The oil and gas discoveries in Namibia, South Africa and Mozambique, presents a unique opportunity for SADC to integrate our supply chains and create our own refinement industry. If electricity in the region is stabilised it will be more cost effective for SADC to pool our resources into refineries. We need the capability to refine locally and export.
