The most important point of this podcast : "AMCA programme to be transferred under PMO, just like ISRO" to expedite it's development and treat it as a project of utmost urgency !

As a child, I used to wonder how a nation like India could not able to resist wave after waves of invading forces. Now I know.

If you can't build your own jet engine then don't even expect Tejas, 1,2,...even in 2045

Every single politician and bureaucrat is responsible. Rajnath Singh is now responsible for having wasted the last 6 years. They need to make a retired air Marshall defense minister

Absolutely agreed with what Chopra sir said. It's important to acknowledge the evolving scenario of air warfare in South Asia. While indigenisation must be a priority for India, it shouldn't come at the cost of our existing national security concerns. Many a times, rationality gets overtaken by emotions when we speak of this topic, but this is one of the handful of times (and people!) who emphasize rationality and facts over sentiments and popular opinion.

Thank you very much for this podcast sir!

I was a student in 2001, India Government started discussing MRCA of 128. My daughter in higher secondary now and all we could manage to get in these 23 years is 36 Rafales and a few sub standard LCA's. Some pav bhajji processes have been put by god knows who and no Government has been able to scrap the process. Armed Forces should have a dedicated budget and not allocation. Calculate GDP and Joint Military Command should have 4% of GDP. Just standard 4% and relay your purchases to Parliament for any course correction if need be after the purchase is made(not before). Let Armed forces decide what they want than these Dhotidhaari and Gutkha Chewing Politicians decide it in the parliament.

A layman, like me, a 10th pass, knows it well, The USA 🇺🇸 was willing to shift its entire F16 manufacturing plant to INDIA if we select the American F16. MRFA is going for 25 years. Now, it's time to purchase American fighter jets. F35 at least 5 squadrons, F16 10 squadrons, F15EX 10 squadrons, and Rafael 10 squadrons. If you don't want to spend money, you are putting the country in a valunerable situation. All ready, China has got 200 J20, and the numbers will be reaching 1000 and on. The number of squadrons I have mentioned may seem crazy, but in reality, if you order them, it take time to get them in numbers. Be wise, take decisions swiftly, and timely strongly 💪. I wanted to understand how we can solve the engine issue, be it F414 or Kaveri ? And secondly, who was responsible for delaying the indigenous engine programme for so long? Why is Tejas delayed by so many years, when it started in 1984? Was the DRDO, ADA, IAF or Govt responsible or all of the above?

At a fraction of the cost, raise a drone Army.
With, entire spectrum of roles.
Loitering drones.
Target tracking following drones
Targets designation drones.
Weapons delivery drones.
155mm cannon projectile, Target eliminating drones.
The Ukrainian war has demonstrated, that Aircrafts, tanks, cannot dominate a contested area.

This month old conversation: PM Modi should talk about F35 or at least F21
Actual Modi-Biden conversation: Stryker vehicles, Sig Suaer rifles ..

Who the hell is setting PM’s agenda??

Sir I think the only solution to fast track the production of fighter jets we must use the unused potential of Private sector. Government must invite Private entities with funding and assured minimum order of fighter jets that can run assembly lines for atleast 15 years. And one more thing government must spend in R&D to develop critical technologies, as very critical technologies are never for sell.for example jet engines.

It is saddening that we donot have AMCA yet, even the orders for Tejas is still an open order.
This is very poor given the amount of threat we face

In the meanwhile, Buy 2 squadron of F35 jet, till AMCA gets built from 2040. Squadron strength can be increased by Tejas Mark1a, Mark2

Atleast focus on easy shorter solutions:
1- Improve Su30 and Migs with Aesa radars
2- Improve the weapons package, electronic warfare capacity and standoff distance for all aircraft’s
3- Improve current trainers to enable them to do CAS
4- Improve the production capacity for Tejas now itself ( even with current constraints)
5- Improve all drones to be UCAV capable ( forget predator ) get whatever we can not so expensive
6 - Add atleast 3 Netra
7- Budget only allows Gripen for MRFA. Get 114 Gripen
Focus on atleast 1-6 in coming 3 years.
Sorry to say whatever was said here is not concrete or executable in short notice. One expects a better plan from experts!!
Whatever is spoken in this interview is something kids are saying for past 2 years watching Defence on YouTube!!
( no disrespect intended) 🙏

Pakistani AF is looking at procuring all of these by 2027 which means in 3-4 years time their airforce will look like this.
J17 (4.5 Gen)
J10C (4.5 Gen)
F16 (4 Gen)
J31 (5 Gen)
PFX (4++/5 Gen)
KAAN (5 Gen)

Think where we stand 😭😭😭

Unless we involve private sector in manufacturing of fighter aircrafts India cannot increase it's squadrons quickly. India should involve the Tata's, Mahindra's, etc. or purchase readily available fighter aircraft's.
