I had a great great uncle that worked in a train switch yard and he noticed that one of the couplers wasn't open. He reached in to pull it open but didn't get his hand out quick enough and it cut his hand off at the wrist. In any of the old family photos of him, he has his handless arm behind his back. This was probably in 1940's.

I love the safety equipment they use. Invisible safety vests, invisible hard hats and Safety sandals. WOW !!!

My Father worked in the same department with different couplers and it was very difficult to couple coaches and got hurt many times. Now the couplers system changed with much relief to the safety of life.

Many people seems to worry about the safety of the guys working and that why they dont have any safety let me clarify this is indian railways....in indian railways these workers are provided with new safety equipments every year but most of the workers dnt like wearing those because they dnt feel comfortable while working wearing those and moreover for more than 6months in india its pretty hot so wearing heavy equipment can really feel very thing they were doing here were aligning the couplers and no they will not get crushed between the bogies because they have a supervisor who speaks with the loco pilot (the guy who operates the locomotive) via radio phones and only after the loco pilot receives permission from the supervisor then only can he move the train

No radio, no equipment, no procedure to get between cars. Incredible...

Pity them.no shoes, no headgears, no gloves. Higher authorities sitting pretty somewhere and sipping whiskey.

Hey those are the same couplers we have here in the USA that's interesting that india's rail ways use the same kind of coupler

Oh, boy, would I get one hell of an earful from both my GMO and the FRA, if I dared to wear flip flops on duty over here on the US side.

Those CBC couplers are very similar to what we in North America call "tightlock" or Type H couplers,

I'm SO happy with our Scharfenberg couplers (schaku): full automated coupling and uncoupling including air and electricity connections.

It must be India, because they are wearing safety-flipflops!😁🎶
