Well I didn't waste my money - I got the Quest 3 when right after it came out. Quest 2 was not powerful enough and there was no indication at that time that a Quest 3S was even going to be made. I am happy with the Quest 3 and will continue to stay with it for gaming.

I think the bigger sweet spot on the Quest 3 and the adjustable IPD are such big improvements for people having issues with the sharpeness/clarity on their Quest 2, that I advise people who do have these issue to invest in the Quest 3. If the Quest 2 works fine then the Quest 3S is a great option if you really want to be able to also use mixed reality and play all the newest games. I friend of mine was always complaining about the Quest 2 being blury and since he bought the Quest 3 he is so much happier and the image is now crisp for him. Just having better adjustable IPD on the Quest 3S would have made it a real great device.

Quest 2 and 3 dont have passthrough button, but they still have the passthrough tap. Double tap on the right side of the headset to jump into passthrough mode.

for me, the proximity sensor was always an issue, it led to my headset being broken for over a month. glad to see the proximity sensor going away

I do like they shaved off the unnecessary white edges near the lenses on the 3S compared to Quest 2. I made my own Quest 3 straps and just changing the top strap to be horizontal like how headphones rest on your head makes a big difference in comfort!

Great vid, as always! After recently trying both the Q3 and Q3s, I can confidently say that I agree with all your points EXCEPT comfort. After using the Q2 for over a year, I immediately felt the weight difference. Even though the Q3 is only a couple grams heavier, it made a difference. the Q3s doesn't get points there because its about the same weight as the Q3. Also, (unpopular opinion), I thought the Q2 and Q3s were more comfortable then the Q3. The facial interface felt better for me on the Q2 then the Q3 or Q3s. same with the headstrap. I have also never bought a replacement headstrap, and thought the default headstrap works fine if you adjust it correctly. It could also be because I am more used to the Q2, so time will tell.

I have the quest 2 and waited for the Q3S, but my IPD is in-between so I need to get the Quest 3.

And then I lost my job so for now I'm just stuck 😢.

There is a passthrough button on the quest 3 and 2, you just have to double tap with 2 fingers in the right side of the headstrap.

I got the Quest 3 and 3s for the misses. The lens difference is clearly noticeable. She's going to be a casual user, so that will be fine for her, but as a demanding user, 3 is the way to go. You can base your judgment on whether image quality and readability are your main concerns. If they are, get a Quest 3, save up and sell Granny. If you're dipping in and out, 3s will be fine.

The proximity sensor is the first thing that broke on my original Quest, so for me the lack of a Proximity Sensor is a plus 😂
