Laramy-K Optical Lab: Independent Edge

Показать описание
Does independence still matter in optical? At Laramy-K Optical, we believe it is more important than ever. What does independence in optical mean to you?
Laramy-K Optical - Independent optical lab - a digital uncut and coating lab unlike any other. The only exclusively uncut lab in the country; we provide our customers with independent, high-end alternatives to corporate brands. Through craftsmanship, technology, and independent, innovative vendors like Younger, IOT, A&R, and Quantum Innovations we’ve developed the Integrity portfolio of freeform lenses and coatings. Made in the USA, the Integrity brand is not a generic house-brand, but is the absolute best we provide, designed to give the wearer that “wow!” experience.
In addition to the digital line, we still offer conventional surfacing, including glass. Maintaining traditional equipment gives our customers vastly more flexibility in their dispensing, particularly when it comes to more difficult prescriptions.

Janet Benjamin (President/Owner):
The goal of Laramy-K Optical was simply to serve opticians. The way the industry has changed, there are a lot of struggles in remaining independent in today’s world.
We actually consider ourselves rabidly independent.
My name is Janet Benjamin and I am the owner of Laramy-K Optical. We are the only exclusive uncut lab left in the country.
John Larson (General Manager):
I set about really hard to do whatever purchases I do personally with independent companies. I do everything I can to support the independents. Our country was founded on independence and it was the small independent companies and businesses that built this country.
JB:
Being an independent laboratory, it helps us identify with our customers a little bit more that are remaining independent and our goal has now turned to helping them to strengthen that independence so they can set themselves apart.
JL:
Now what we know we’re out to do is to find those others out there that need what we have as an independent, and want to stay independent, and provide them the ability to do that. I think that’s our task.
JB:
We go through every day trying to make sure that we’re provide the best we can provide whether it be product or customer service.
JL:
We just firmly believe that optics is a craft and it should be treated as such.
JB:
We’ve always got people coming in saying, “When are you going to put in edging?”
I believe that we have narrowed down the surfacing of lenses to an art form and the finishing aspect is another art form all on it’s own. A lot of our customers are high-end customers and extremely capable opticians that really know their business, that want edge not necessary because of the financial advantage, but more often than not, it’s so they can control their own quality.
Our role is not to make our customer happy. Our role is to make the individual who is wearing the eyeglasses happy. Because if we can accomplish that, we’ve made our customer happy and possibly have produced a repeat client for them.
