Started as an Axminster Tuner at John Thornton in St Helens in 1972 ( it was a dying trade then ) and have been working in the industry to this day ! I have actualy worked in that factory installing a Rapier drive to a Crabtree Broad Loom

Amazing! I was a broadloom operator in the 1980's in Victoria Australia.
Did Axeminster have any sanctioned partners here.
We had a huge maker called Westminster. This changed to Minster in the 1970's I believe.
I worked for a much smaller concern!
I'd love to know the history of the name change of an iconic building and employer in my home town of Dandenong.
