Terrorism an ‘enduring threat’ to society

ASPI Head of Strategic Policing and Law Enforcement Dr John Coyne says terrorism is an “enduring threat” to society and is “not going anywhere”.

The Australian Security Intelligence Organisation has raised the terrorism threat level in Australia from 'possible' to 'probable', with the intelligence agency concerned about the rising threat of politically motivated violence.

“We were told in November 22, that the threat level would possibly go up again,” Mr Coyne told Sky News Australia.

“I think the concern here is how widespread the issue is, how many different motivations there are and that general frustration … in terms of the community and the willingness to move to politically motivated violence.”

The terror threat is up because the govt is worried about the Australian people defending their country like what’s happening now in the UK. It’s more about suppressing Australians, not stopping an Islamic threat. eSafery commissioner is a perfect example.
