Three days after the Norfolk Southern train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, on Feb. 3, 2023, officials — with the EPA’s blessing — burned 116,000 gallons of vinyl chloride into the region.

Now, for the first time since the incident, new data reveals just how far those toxins spread.

Within minutes, a mushroom-like cloud of toxins billowed into the atmosphere and smothered the area.

Can't wait for absolutely no one to ever be held accountable for this.

CORRECTION. The disaster DID NOT cause the chemicals to catch fire. The TRAIN COMPANY SET IT ON FIRE. This was ARSON.

But god forbid I put the “wrong” muffler on my car. Prison time for violating the clean air act…

Can’t eat, the food is bad. Can’t drink, the water is bad. Can’t breathe, the air is bad.

Who ever set that on fire and helped make that decision should be on trial.

The weather radar images during the burn were horrifying. The winds that day changed 360 degrees spreading pollution everywhere. A few days later, the images were nowhere to be found on the internet.

"You may not be interested..." what a bizarre and insensitive way to open this segment.

Those states have a duty to sue the companies and people responsible for that disaster.

So let me get this straight: I throw a bottle out of my car window and get fined $200, but a major corp. explodes a train full of toxic vinyl chloride and nothing happens? Whoopsies?

You really think this was an accident, we are dying in denial.

There is no safe amount of vinyl chloride.

There's almost nothing worse than poisoning the soil. After all, that's EVERYTHING. Water tables (wells), crops, dust in the air, foundation upon which everything and everyone stands. It's a bloody shame.

They know what the health risks and the toxicity of those chemicals are. They just don't want to say it because it's so horribly terrible.
