Large Dahua Security Camera Deployment in West LA with LPR, Facial Search, SMD, Perimeter Protection

Custom Video Security recently won a contract to install a turn-key state of the art video surveillance system for a large multi-building HOA in West Los Angeles, CA.

Our bid was selected due to the combination of affordable pricing along with numerous next generation features such as facial search or facial recognition (FR), license plate recognition (LPR), artificial intelligence (AI) cameras and recorders that have the ability to identify humans and vehicles, smart motion detection (SMD) to streamline searching and virtually eliminate false motion alerts, perimeter protection to send pop-up alerts and push notifications when a human and/or vehicle has breached the perimeter during a pre-determined schedule, and starlight technology to see color at night time.

I talked about these various technologies briefly in this video. One of the most important features for systems with a large number of cameras is the facial search, also known as "face detect" by Dahua. It's similar to facial recognition, as the technology is the same. But in this particular application, we are not using any database of faces. This is why it's not considered recognition but rather facial search. This keeps privacy concerns at bay while allowing for very quick searches across all cameras for a subject's face.

Being in this business for over 15 years, the clear selection for the technology used on this project was Dahua. In addition to the above mentioned technologies, we are incorporating the DSS Express professional video management software (VMS). It allows for complete site management including access control (which they later want integration on all parking, lobby, and gym doors), parking lot management for a guest vehicle parking spots including the management of guest passes for visitors, unified communication between all security guards with digital search, video intercoms, and much much more.

With COVID on the rise and at its peak in California, a temperature detection scanner can be installed inside the main office to limit entry to those who have skin temperatures within non-fever range. This can easily be facilitated with either the 5216 AI NVR or the DSS Express.
