One of my favorite lore in Magic is Vorinclex Monstrous Raider travels through planes without planeswalking, which leaves him as a pile of guck in a forest, a curious deer sniffs at it and he pounces it and absorbs it, making him look like he does in the art.

always loved his design. i dont know, when i think of the term "predation" i would think about something like Vorinclex. and in a world where everything is very, veeery machinelike or anorganic, his muscles and boneplates really make him seem like something that wants to "evolve naturally". just as he wants the vicious swarm to evolve on its own, in contrast to the blue alligned creatures he hates.

One thing that’s kind of interesting about the Vicious Swarm is that their end goal is not just remaking the cosmos into an infinite hunting ground, but the eradication of all higher thought beyond killing and hunting. To this end, a lot of them choose to replace their cortexes with an Oil-infused fungus called lamina.
