The SNP's John Nicolson MP who sits on the digital, culture, media, and sport committee, says that Richard Sharp’s position is "extremely difficult".

Mr Sharp insists that he did not arrange the loan to Mr Johnson but admitted introducing his friend Sam Blyth, a cousin of Johnson who wanted to help the then-PM with his financial troubles, to the Cabinet Office.

The PM of the UK needing to get a Personal Loan worth £800K is outrageous That man should be in Jail not trying to be PM again

This smells very strongly of potential corruption. These types of things need tightening up urgently.

It’s time for a general election. The Tories need to be taught a lesson.

Most of us pay the TV License and it’s become viewed as a sort of tax to keep the BBC impartial. At such a politically aware period as this, we need confidence in impartial reporting. Without confidence in that impartiality, then the license fee becomes a rip off and many more of us will refuse to pay. A scandal like this could finish the BBC. The whole world gets its news from the BBC and so this collapse will be a further dent in our country’s reputation.

It’s banana republic stuff. Absolutely absurd.
Being a Tory major donor and getting a plum job from the Tories is not against the rules - how mad is that??

At what stage in the class ladder does breaking the rules change to breaking the law.

He’s acting almost like Boris did! It seems that Boris could have advised him exactly how to react!

The rules need changing. Significant party donors should not be given jobs in pubic owned businesses

He knew he as evading the full disclosure but he is a pal of Boris Johnson so ethics are probably not at the forefront of his mind. The BBC is not impartial !
It's the state broadcaster, therefore it supports every aspect that endorses the state. Whether that is the government, Charlie Jug Lugs, the military and obviously the supposed impartiality of the BBC.

That the committee felt it should have been made aware of ? What sort of an arrogant comment is that? It was your responsibilty to have made them aware of it., but then Johnson and his mates think rules and regulations are for the little people and don't apply to themselves.
