I’ve always loved that “bite” that saxophone has to its tone. That raspiness adds some *_soul_* to the instrument imo.

Clarinet is so underrated for jazz love the soprano as well but a clarinet sounds just as good.

I almost always prefer the timbre of the Clarinet over Soprano Sax when I write any jazz arrangements. It gives me that kind of “early jazz” feel with experimentation; and has a sweeter tone. It also gives a lot more flexibility on where you could go through the registers. :)

For this the clarinet. It sounds more mellow as for soprano are for more intense, fast songs. Though they both can be used in jazz equally, it depends on the piece itself.

I think it depends on what the mood/emotion is for the situation, so both have their place. They’re both great, although it’s fresh to hear soprano (and more brilliance) on this track, whereas the clarinet can work as well
