Scott Morrison meets Indian prime minister

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of the first Quad leaders’ meeting with Japan and the US tomorrow.

The leaders discussed a number of different topics including the COVID-19 pandemic and clean energy.

Clean energy is expected to dominate talks with the Quad leaders tomorrow and in particular the possibility of Australia sharing hydrogen technology with India.

Mr Morrison also said sharing “ultra-low cost solar” with India would be discussed.

Ultra low cost solar to India! How can Australia make anything that can be made cheaper in India? As far as technology goes, India is only behind China and Germany when it comes to manufacturing Solar technology so I'm not sure what Australia can contribute in this area. The only thing that can come out of this deal is Australia export its Hydrogen (and then sneak in some coal) to India to address their immediate energy needs.

Maybe Modi can knock some sense into Morrison about Ivermectin rather than Morrison's fantasies about hydrogen and solar! Reminds me of one of Bill Leak's cartoons about aid to poor countries. It shows poor people in India trying to make sense of a box of solar panels. Uttar Pradesh, a very large state in India is effectively Covid free because of the widespread use of Ivermectin as a prophylactic.
