Thin Lizzy - Whiskey In The Jar

- F O L L O W -

- L Y R I C S -
[Verse 1]
As I was goin' over
The Cork and Kerry mountains
I saw Captain Farrell
And his money he was countin'

[Verse 2]
I first produced my pistol
And then produced my rapier
I said "Stand o'er and deliver
Or the devil he may take ya".

[Chorus]
Musha ring dumb a do dumb a da
Whack for my daddy-o,
Whack for my daddy-o
There's whiskey in the jar-o

[Verse 3]
I took all of his money
And it was a pretty penny
I took all of his money
And I brought it home to Molly

[Verse 4]
She swore that she'd love me
Never would she leave me
But the devil take that woman
For you know she tricked me easy

Thin Lizzy was so much more than "The Boys Are Back in Town" and I love the way the lead guitars harmonize together and Phil's wonderfully sexy, smoky voice on this song. The Irish can sure sing a story! I often wonder what some of these young musicians would have turned out musically if they had lived longer. We lost him too soon like so many other astonishing artists.

Happy St. Patrick's to all! Currently, I'm enjoying this great tune amongst other great Thin Lizzy songs AND savoring some single malt 14 year Tullamore D.E.W.

I always held an undying love of this song and particularly this unforgettable rendition of it. At a very early age I heard my departed father play and sing it strumming on a 6 string acoustic for the entertainment of company (he was anything but Irish btw but he was good) It's in my bone marrow, like DNA. How could I not love it when I discovered Lizzy at an older age and how can I not love it still? I'll take it to the grave.

God damn. What a voice on Phil Lynott, even in 1973. His voice is saying "I'm ready for the Thunder and Lightning album, let's go."

Always loved this song, the riff is just eternal. Then found out I used to live near where Phil's mom used to run a hotel, and all sorts of celebrities rocked up.

his voice is so cool in this, he never sang like this later, this is more of a rod stewart type style he mustve been into in the early yrs, hard song to sing in this key, high notes.

I like both versions whether what kind of mood I'm in. Lizzy for kinda relaxing and Metallica for energy.

Sempre amarei o Thin Lizzy, foi um amor à primeira ouvida! Whiskey In the Jar fez parte de minha adolescência. A guitarra de Eric Bell é soberba, o vocal de Phil é único, um artista inigualável! Forever, Thin Lizzy !
