Welcome to DanWhiteBooks!

In today's video, I review H.P. Lovecraft's collection of stories, 'Necronomicon.' Originally written for the pulp magazines of the 1920s and 1930s, H.P. Lovecraft's astonishing tales blend elements of horror, science fiction, and cosmology that are as powerful today as they were when first published. This book presents original versions of many of his most harrowing stories, including the complete Cthulhu Mythos cycle, in order of publication.

I feel criticism of authors should be limited to those who still live and hold influence over others. People like Lovecraft who are long dead need only be understood in the context of their time because they can't change, but the living can.

Kinda sucks for the authors, but art is powerful and able to provide both good and harm.

All that said, i really want one of those necronomicons that have a face

I own this book. it is absolutely fascinateing. the stories are very absorbing, particularly those that feature cities, as old as time, built by ancient, long vanished alien civilizations. some of the stories are real skin, crawlers. as for the racist content, one must remember that they were written way back in the 20s & 30s, when such predudices were much more commmon. i bought the book, partly because i like strange stories, & partly because of the thrill & novilty of being able to own & read the Necronomicon!. what a charming idea, to bring this legendary book to life, as an actual book, filled with the stories of the writer who envisioned it. such a fitting tribute to this remarkable author.

Lovecraft eventually grew out of his backward views, as told in memoirs written near the end of his life.

These youtubers have to do that disclaimer. Its formality for those with meager lucidity.

Good overview

I'm tired of every video that talks about Lovecraft to meander about his views torn out time context and every youtuber goes out of his ways to make a point he or she condones it. Like half of a video.

In Lovecraft's time and location, Racism was common place. It was the norm back them. Even so, Lovecraft himself eventually grew out of such Racism, which is a credit to his Character. So please, YouTubers, stop TARISHING his name in your Videos. One Man's Sins are NOT greater or worse than another Man's Sins... and you ALL freaking still SIN... SO SHUT UP ABOUT IT!!

You are judging a person that lived 75 years ago & holding them to todays standards & knowledge.

Lovecraft was horrid racist and reactionary for his time
It was his Prejudice and paranoidia of the other that fueled his terror producing writing
If HP wasn't a Creighton, he would never had been a great of a horror writer
