I waited a year to do this video, because I was expecting the worst. Here is my review of App Academy Open.

I am only half way through a 8 hour course from last 3 weeks. So I understand the determination that it would take for anyone to sit and watch any tutorial. Anybody completing such a long training deserves a nobel prize.

As someone that went through the App Academy curriculum a couple years ago, the transition from Ruby to JS wasn't too hard since all the initial exercises were similar (but writing in javascript). This gave a good foundation before going into deeper content

Ruby on Rails jobs are still out there. Except now, the demand for rails devs are higher and we get to ask for more in terms of compensation and benefits(wfh, unlimited pto etc) because everyone else only knows JS. Excellent video otherwise, and I totally agree that App Academy Open is an amazing resource!

Hi RTC, just a quick FYI, the guy teaching the algorithms section is Haseeb, one of the App Academy graduates who did not have a CS degree. He's pretty well known around the SF area. I've seen some of his lectures live at other places because he's taught at other places and speaks at meetups. Yes, he's really really good at teaching. Also, I think Rithm school has their curriculum online, or used to, they were originally from Galvanize in SF. They also have a class on Udemy, which includes Colt Steele also from Galvanize.

Excellent! Looking forward to more from App Academy Open. Critiques can be tough but this looks promising and worth sharing. It's needed! Bring it on 1500 hrs.

Just started the course from absolute beginner about 2 months ago with the intention of getting through the whole curriculum and attempting to get a job with the projects I would build.

I'm on section 3 right now. The video explainers have slowed down and there is not as much hand holding, which is both beneficial and frustrating at times. Making great progress!

The course does demand your full unwavering attention. Practice and train your concentration. I have a feeling if one is capable of going through the entirety of the course, they are capable of getting a Jr position :)

Hey Candy great review. I'm currently in the course, and you don't have pay until job placement. I've been in for 3 months and the instructors I've had are just as good as Alvin in the videos. I'm enjoying it a lot, I've never learned so much in a shirt period of time. We also do a lot of pair programming with other classmates, and to my surprise ive really enjoyed that as well. I'm not paid to say these things just excited to possibly come to grasps with my impostor syndrome to an extent, due to some really great instructions and instructors.

Why Microsoft not included in FANG?
FANG acronym came from stocks that were doing pretty well at some point of time in the past, Microsoft just didn't make the
cut at that time. And the FANG acronym just continued getting used.

Not really fatigued but it is so much! I really want this though. There's no excuse when the resources are there and so many jobs go unfulfilled in an ever-growing billion dollar industry.

But I saw in their YouTube channel that we have to pay the tuition fees when we land on a software engineering job paying more than $50, 000 annually. Is this true? And if it is, then if we don't get a job, will we be sued? Please clear this doubt of mine, this doubt is holding me from accessing the bootcamp. Thank You. 🙏🏻
