Best "Top Down Filming" video I've watched so far. Especially talking about the connectors for stuff like the Mic stands. Other people don't talk about the little bits and pieces we need to Jerry-Rig our budget set-ups.

Been at this for over two hours brainstorming how I can do a video over my head. it's the first time I have tried a DIY project that is super up close and personal. I have great lighting and an amazing tripod for regular filming at 5:00 you take about a microphone stand. I have a podcast microphone I use for some voice over. And low and hehold after two years of never messing with the set up, I was able to remove the microphone, remove my pall gear rig and Sony ZV1 camera from the fancy tripod and attach it to the boom arm! thank you for this brainstorming session!

For overhead shots on my desk i use an old plywood offcut, that i drilled a hole into, to mount a ball head with a 3/8 screw and some washers. The whole thing is attached to a shelf above my desk with some F-Style Clamps. You could also attach it to the desk itself and film on the floor. Or any other flat surface. It is really sturdy and can hold my Sony a6300 or my old Nikon D5200 easily. Plus it can hold several attachments, like a light, microphone, monitor etc with magic arms or similar. I use it regularly on my live streams, so i can show book pages or my drawings. What i like is the versatility and that it was almost free, since it was an offcut and i already had the clamps and screw.
