Hey, so I happen to know a bit about the story behind the game, long story short, the studio that created Zapper was, in the first place, working on a Frogger sequel, yet for some licensing issues during the development of the game, the project was aborted. The studio had by that time completed a significant part of the game, so rather that deleting everything and losing a lot of cash they ended up re-working some features and mechanics of the game but just enough so they don't get sued or anything and this is where Zapper originated from, and that's why Zapper appears so similar to Frogger, simply cause it was intended to be a Frogger game in the first place.

I played both Frogger 2 Swampy's Revenge and then Zapper. I loved them both and I still do. I kinda prefer cricket maybe because that electric shock attack and his overall esthetic design pleased me a lot ^^ Yeah it definitelly was the electric wave attack xD

My nostalgic bug game was A Bugs Life for PC. You can really feel the nostalgia in the lack of polygons

I love this game! The soundtrack is great, I really love the level design, and I used to have a lot of fun jumping on top of other crickets and holding Z.

It’s interesting coming back to this video after the Frogger marathon. I get the feeling his opinions on those games have improved since then, given his “only OK” in this video vs. his reaction to Helmet Chaos.

Hey, thanks for reviewing this game. I really enjoyed it when when I was young and still do now, but I can see what you mean that it's not that desirable. I'm just glad to see someone giving this game some recognition regardless because I felt really alone about knowing this game...

And yes, I'm a silly nerd who 100% this game more than once.

A very early memory I had was walking in a mall with my family and seeing a video game on display with a bluish background and an orange game character tapping the screen. It caught my attention but I couldn’t remember for the life of me what the game was. I can rest easy now.

I actually like this game, at least more than Nitro seems to. Don't get me wrong, this game is brutally difficult especially in the bonus stages. I think you had to beat them all to get unlimited ultra zaps, which make the game way easier. That, or just put in a cheat code. Despite this, I kept coming back to it for the huge array of ideas in it. It was so diverse in enemies and places to be.
