Manipur Violence | Kukis Protest Against Centre's Move To Send 2 Assam Rifles Battalions To J&K

The government faces fresh challenges in Manipur after the Centre decided to move out two Assam Rifles (AR) battalions from the state to Jammu and Kashmir. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) will replace the two AR battalions.
Nearly two dozen tribes under the Kuki banner have started protesting against the Centre's move, which they alleged would be destabilising as they considered the Assam Rifles a "neutral" force amid the ethnic tensions.

The protesters held a candlelight vigil in Churachandpur and Kangpokpi districts. They tried to stop AR soldiers from moving out of their locations.

What is the relationship between the Assam Rifles and the (illegal) Kukis from Myanmar?

The AR who is one the oldest paramilitary forces that is supposedly guarding the border between Manipur(India) and the Myanmar for over 40 years like the BSF that guards the border against Pakistan and Bangladesh.

It is common knowledge that there is a flood of influx of illegal Myanmarese Kukis and huge expansion of poppy cultivation right under the nose of the AR.

So the very legitimate and democratic demand of the indigenous Manipuris /Meiteis/ Tangkhuls in relocation of the AR from Manipur is the need of the hour.

Under SoO, Kukis are doing all the illegal things like cross border gun running, drug smuggling, providing hospitality to illegal immigrants ect. except attacking to Assam rifle.
