I had a frameset lying around and a bunch of take off mountian bike parts........so I built a franken bike. Here is the run down. Took it for a ride and its pretty fun. I primarily built it to put a baby trailer on the back to tow my son around this coming summer.

A road bike with flat handlebars, WHAT A THING OF BEAUTY!

I commute with a heavy load after years of running 53 39 and 12 27 10 speed I now run full mtb triple front and 10 speed 12-28 rear. The difference is amazing and makes my commute more fun. People look down on the granny gear until they got a ton of load and had to go up a steep hill.

Right on brother, done right. Never like road bikes or 29ers. Have converted vintage 700c steel frame road bikes to commuter/mountain bikes. They fly! You gained a subscriber.

I'm currently in the process of piecing together a Frankenbike to handle city streets, dirt/gravel roads and be comfortable to ride for long distance treks. It's a KHS Urban Xcape flat bar bike with a 28/38/48 chainring set, Shimano Megarange 11-34t cassette, double-walled rims and 700X35 tires. I've added a Jones Loop H-Bar and Topeak rear rack. So far, I like the way it feels given I only had time to do a short test ride. I like the way things are coming together on this ride.

Looks really stylish. I'm about to convert my '03 Saracen Morzine to a riser bar. It's already a 1x8 speed and I use a 48t crankset with a 28-11t cassette and has worked just fine as a commuter for many years. I've never liked the ITM europa bars because the drops are too low and also don't extend far back enough, so I'm always on the hoods or the tops.

I did this with my scott cr1.
I put xt/xtr 11 speed-11-40 with 42 on the front.
For fast comuting bike is awesome.

Did you make that handlebar out of a flag pole?

Looks sexy but what's up with that super wide handle bar. On fast descent you might start flying with such wingspan...

I did this conversion with my cheap roadbike.
I don't have money to buy STI shifters but i have MTB combo shifters and straight handlebar laying around.so I abandoned my dropbars and saved money.

This video has inspired me .. I might do this to my Trek emoda alr with rim breaks .... I'm a large man and the dropbars are not the most comfortable things I really like this Frankenstein, right on 🤙
