I'm excited to welcome Teacher Gerry to our youtube channel! He's from Ireland and of course an Irish teacher knows Saint Patrick's Day the best!

Hello, everybody teacher Jerry here, wishing you a very happy St. Patrick's day. What am I talking about? Well, St. Patrick's day is the national day of Ireland, my home country, and it's celebrated all over the world. But why? Who is Saint Patrick? Patrick was a Bishop who brought the Christian religion to Ireland more than 1500 years ago.

He's now celebrated as Ireland's patron, Saint. A famous story about St. Patrick tells us that he drove all the snakes out of Ireland. Of course, we don't know if that's true, but we do know that Ireland does not have snakes. Many people believe that Patrick died on March 17th in the year 461. And this date is now celebrated as the feast of Saint Patrick or simply St. Patrick's day. It's also the national holiday of Ireland and is celebrated by Irish people and their friends in countries all over the world with parades and street parties, Irish music and dancing, and of course food and drink, but you don't have to be Irish to join this celebration. All you have to do is wear something green and join the party and say Slainte!

so Slainte and happy St. Patrick's day to you all!
