Thank you so much for taking some additional time testing FF lenses on APS-C.

Budget FF lenses are a common target also for APS-C shooters 😊

Finally, an affordable alternative to the Leica APO-Summicron-SL 75mm f/2 ASPH!

Seeing that first image scared me, I thought the whole neon text was just CA, on a side note, glad to see TTartisan going strong with their AF

Nikon and Sony are good examples that one mount system with a less strict policies is incredibly efficient for long run. Despite number of weaknesses from both companies, I really appreciate this kind of strategy.

I bought this and own the Nikon 85mm 1.8 S. This TT Artisan renders similarly as the Nikon but with a bit less sharpness. It's quite good for image quality for the price. It's also a significantly smaller and lighter lens than the 85mm. Overall I'm quite happy with it as it's sharp enough, probably 85-90%% of how sharp the Nikon is. One issue with my copy is the AF front focus's significantly in "pinpoint" AF mode on my Nikon Zf and on a Nikon Z5 I tried. The other AF modes seem to function fine. Pinpoint uses contrast detect so something must be off with TT Artisans firmware on the lens.

Amazing performance bar the AF accuracy.

Glad that it made it to Z mount, the Zf benefits from lenses with aperture rings.

Nice to see some lower cost options that are also reasonably good performers. As more and more of these arrive, the absence of these options on Canon RF is bound to start hurting sales of that system. In the meantime, this is great news for Sony and Nikon users. I hope TT Artisan keeps improving on their products and extending their range. Thanks for the review as usual, Christopher.

This lens has some nice character and filmic look.

That's the one I've ordered for my Nikon ZF. Seems good enough, although the bokeh isn't the nicest.
But it does have a bit of a retro style look, with that aperture ring.
If I still had a Sony, I would still prefer the Samyang 75mm, which is more expensive, but also much lighter. There's also the 7artisans 85mm, but it's heavier.

Nice to see so many 3rd party options now for the Nikon Z mount.

Out of all the lenses you have reviewed over the years... can you make a video of the ones you actually use on a regular basis. Or rather your favorite lenses that you own and would personally buy?

The autofocus situation must have a software problem, as the more recent copies have been much faster to focus than you show here - and with Sony, at least, the lens can use eye tracking and vehicle tracking AF quite well!

I placed an order for this lens after watching your review.

I’ve had experiences with third-party e-mount lenses having AF issues when mounted on cameras that are significantly older than they are. (The Tamron 24mm 2.8 thrashed around its focus when on my old a7ii, but worked perfectly fine on the a6300.)

I’m curious as to whether that’s the case with your older a7RIII; this lens focuses extremely fast and accurately on my a7CII.

Hi Christopher, I have just received my copy of this lens & I was wondering if you would be kind enough to help me before I leap to complaining to Ttartisan? I am a manual lens shooter & apart from a kit lens which I never use, this is my first experience of an AF. I know it's a budget lens, and my cameras are old (A7ii & A5000 ir converted) so I'm not expecting a whizz performance. However, there are a few bugs and Idk if it's expected or a fault. Firstly I noticed it doesn't like switching between Auto and Manual aperture, it often taking several seconds to adjust the aperture in manual mode, as if it's thinking about what I just asked it to do. If I turn the aperture ring too quickly it gives up entirely and loses connection with the camera and I have to turn the camera off and on again - it does this with both cameras. Then the autofocus, is wrong about 30% of the time, like really wrong, totally unfocused, and when it tries to focus it hunts in and out before making it's mind up, and this takes a whole second, and then it's wrong a third of the time!! Atm I'm wondering why I bothered with an AF, have i got a faulty one do you think or should I be expecting this? Thanks for your help, A.
