The standard illustration of a sphere of mass pushing 'down' on a 2D grid of 'space-time' (as in this video) is simply incorrect and deceptive. The grid should be getting pulled inward toward the center of mass of the sphere in all directions to be correct, and is much better illustrated with a 3D grid. Animating this and moving a semi-transparent Earth-like sphere back and forth through a 3D grid would clearly illustrate this, and even more clearly if gravity (in the animation) was turned off and on while moving the sphere through the grid as well.
