This video explains how to set up this AMAZING Spotify media player on your dashboard in Home Assistant. If you combine this player with the radio player that I showed in last week's video, you can create one media player that plays your favorite Radio stations and Spotify playlists on your smart speakers in your home like this! And you don't even need to have a Spotify Premium account for this!

The Spotify Mini Media Player seems to give some issues for some people in the last couple of days. Adding these lines to your configuration.yaml and rebooting HA after that seems to fix the issue (for now):

javascript_version: latest

Great hearing you are helping others with mental disorders through music. I am actually doing this integration because I want to start a morning routine with meditation music from a spotify playlist for my 7 year old son who has severe ADHD. Thank you!

Thanks Ed for time after time nice and good explanation! what could now be a nice addition, is from this mini media player also selecting our different speakers on which the media is played, or a group of speakers.

Great video, working 100 percent. I managed to put the radio card with Spotify together. lovely job. Anyway to add a line of 2px to separate the radio buttons from Spotify buttons? Thank you anyway

Hi Ed - Excellent video again. One thing I’m trying to see that might be supported somewhere is being able to see the playlist on the device that’s being played and skip to a particular track in that list. I am unable to see any examples of this natively in Home Assistant, but I have seen something like it in Music Assistant or even using NodeRed to read the players and select a track from the music queue. Could the HA community come together here to make something like this within mini media player, so you could completely do away with apps like Sonos which allows viewing the queue on selected players or groups? I’ve had a first attempt at doing something in NodeRed but it might be good to see if the functionality of some of the media players could extended to use the NodeRed capabilities to view player queues from products like Sonos..

I've been looking for a solution like this for a while. Now I have to adapt this to my house which is split into rooms and zones. Also I wish Mini Media player conformed to the mushroom card theme.

Thanks Ed. I've combined the one Mini Media Player for both Radio and Spotify using your method.
Spotify is a little buggy, often requiring multiple button presses before working correctly, or even having to play a radio station first before playing a Spotify playlist. I don't know why, but it does refer to Spotify not retrieving the Entity ID (something to that effect).

Thank you for all your videos as they are my go to videos for Home Assistant Tutorials now.

Thanks for the nice tutorial!
After some fiddling got it working with Amazon Echo Dots. All you gotta do is make sure you connect Alexa app from Spotify and it worked.
For my Google Nest mini I had to first connect to it via the Spotify app. Now they all work just fine 😊
Just in case anyone else has some trouble setting it up.

Now I just need to get two things working: either have a input_select for playlists or create a popup (with bubble card popup) to select a playlist and second: create a text input field where you can type what you want to listen to…(no idea how that could work 😅)

Great tutorial...clear and simple, like all the ones you do. I'm focusing on implementing Spotify in HA. I would like to ask you if it is possible to build a more complex dashboard, for example creating links (room icons) to manage the smart speakers for each room of the house. Thanks a lot 👍

Awesome tutorial, thank you so much! Could you make another video on how to integrate several Spotify accounts in spotcast? That would be great!

Thank you for posting this. I am a few months into HA and learning YAML having come from an Insteon ISY994i environment. I have found your videos to be the best on YouTube for my learning style.
I was able to get the spotcast service (v3.6.30) to finally install correctly by removing the country reference in the YAML file. I had specified "country: CA" thinking that it required the correct country code. As others have noted I have it working on my Amazon Echo devices including my Alexa enabled Bose Smart Speaker. One thing I am trying to figure out is how I can highlight the playlist button once it is selected. There are so many options with the mini player hopefully there is something there that can be used. Thank you again.

Thnx Ed!! Het is gelukt, maar ik moest voor de background de code in de editor toevoegen. Bij de card kreeg in niet de optie om een background toe te voegen....Geen idee wat ik verkeerd heb gedaan, maar op deze manier werkte het ook prima.
