I love how you can tell they are purposely not letting the m3 climb the ledge.

The funny thing is that the Panthers required very experienced drivers, who in the most difficult moments will be able to not use the full power of the engine, as this risked igniting it, or destroying the transmission. It was also necessary to accelerate slowly and be very careful about the amount of engine revolutions. In later versions of the tanks, even engine speed limiters were installed, reducing the tank's mobility ( which was a disadvantage, as the weaker quality of steel forced the Germans to make later versions of the Panther also have thicker armor, which increased the weight of the tank). Still, the tank required experienced drivers. The problem was that at that time the Germans already had almost no experienced drivers, yet the Panthers were to become the main tank of the German army, replacing the Pz III. When the Panthers made their debut on the battlefield the Soviets did not even notice these tanks (it was not the first, nor the last German tank that this happened to :) ). In the following months, the flowing data from battles showed that the Panthers are no more effective tanks on the battlefield than the Pz IV. They have a comparable number of destroyed enemy vehicles, suffer similar losses of their own. The difference between the two tanks, however, was that the Pz. IV was several times cheaper to build, much less prone to failure, simpler to operate, was perfectly plugged into the logistics system and had a longer resupply. It was also easier to transport and could cross most bridges compared to the Panthera. For all these reasons, the resolve was changed and the Pz IV became the main tank of the German army, not the Panthera. At the same time, it is worth mentioning that this was according to the stipulations on paper, while in reality the Pz III remained the main tank until the end of the war, but in the StuG III version. Tigers and Panthers had propaganda overtones, but Germany's main tank was the obsolete Pz III, and later the StuG III which was not even a tank, but a self-propelled gun.
Back to the problems with the Panther's transmission and engine. Now think that with the Tiger II these problems were compounded, while with the Jagtiger they were pushed to absurdity. And, after all, the E-100 (Tiger-maus) was being built, which had the same drive unit and had no chance of moving.
