This week, we tour an exquisite 4-bedroom unit at Camelot by the Water, located by the prestigious Tanjong Rhu area.

The homeowners are a family of three who moved in back in 2008, but recently opted for a 450k renovation makeover to recreate their 2,745 sqft unit.

Tall ceilings establish a sense of grandeur at the entry, with sconce lights on either end softly illuminating the large-format Italian floor tiles and timber look-alike strips overhead.

The powder room features a vanity wall made up of acrylic base mosaic tiles. Its groutings have been individually painted over in blue sealant, and together with the textured wallpaper opposite, creates a sense of oriental tranquility.

The home opens up to a spacious living room. Linear aesthetics are balanced with warm fixtures, furniture, and paintings here.

Matte finished 3mm gray tile strips line the walls, absent of skirtings below, and creating a seamless flow from floor to ceiling, giving the illusion of a bigger living area.

The first balcony offers a beautiful view of palm trees and water features. This area provides a private and serene environment for the homeowners to unwind in.

Back into the home, we find cabinetry that seamlessly extends from the living room into the dining.

Filling the communal area, a custom 10-seater table, with Italian handmade lights overhead, making for an intimate dining setting.

Wall-hung paintings and a console at the far end further adds character to the dining.

The second balcony offers an indoor-outdoor dining option with a four-seater Rattan al fresco set.

Adjacent, the kitchen features dark laminates contrasted with white quartz countertops. Natural light floods the kitchen, creating an ideal space for cooking or simply enjoying breakfast.

The guest bedroom is spacious and pleasant, with white walls and light engineered wood flooring. It includes an attached bath with two-tone textured stonewalls.

The homeowner's son occupies the second bedroom, which has been culled of its en suite bathroom to maximize living space.

A built-in study table at the other end is positioned against the windows, with paneled wardrobes and display shelving on the side providing further functionality.

A Jack-N-Jill entrance now connects the entertainment room’s bath to the son’s bedroom, serving as an extension of his living space.

The entertainment room features a lounge set up and a TV set, complemented by display shelving showcasing books and figurines.

Finally, the master bedroom is designed with light timber to create an elegant and calming rest environment.

Behind the rest area lies a hidden walk-in wardrobe, cleverly concealed behind fluted panels to mask the irregular layout of the room.

More walk-in wardrobes line the entry, leading to the master bath.

The master bath impresses with dual sinks and combines a variety of design elements found through the home like the kitkat tiles and fluted panel concealments.

As always, special thanks to the owner for opening up their unit to us!

The common areas of this renovation may be the nicest I've seen. Very relaxing, free of clutter yet allowing the owners to display a surprising amount of collectibles. I love the two balconies. I would have to watch it again as I didn't understand the layout of the son's bedroom. There didn't seem to be much closet space yet there was this long slim bench/platform. The complex swimming pool and greenery looks amazing. I'm ready to move in. I'll take the maid's room!

Finally an older condo with amazing bones - would be interesting to see what the place was like before renovations. Im curious why the ID did not suggest pushing a dry kitchen/kitchen island counter or introduce a bar cabinet/counter or separate reading/lounge area out in the main dining. There is alot of dead space in the dining room and the kitchen looks fairly cramped.

Finally one of the rare few with great interiors and furnishing. Most often than not, we see expensive condos and bungalows with ugly interior design and furnishing like the owners ran out of money after buying the property. Or rather it just reflects their poor taste in aesthetics. Hope to see more of the good ones!

Haven't seen you in a while Raj. No mentions of "essentially" anymore and is much appreciated. Silky smooth presentation!

The only space that look nice is the entryway. Not impressed with the rest. I don’t know is it the ceiling cladding or Reuben is tall, the ceiling looks very low to me although he mentioned it is 2.8m.

Have that same light used at the dining table. Its a pain to clean (and to set up as well) but absolutely gorgeous

Huge place but feels very empty and sterile partly because of the colour scheme. Everything is white, brown and grey, not a hint of colour. Also there are too many concealed shelves, one at the entryway, one at the dining room, one at the living room and 2 huge walk in closets. How many things you want to keep hidden from sight despite there’s not many items being displayed from what I can tell. For 450k, I would expect better because the “minimalistic” ID is a cookie cutter trend in Singapore. If your ID is similar to many HDBs that costs a fraction of the price, you need to fire the ID who is responsible 😅

What I find the most lacking is personality in design. After touring the whole house, I still don’t know the owners’ personality and hobby. I can only tell they are Chinese from the oriental decoration pieces. Even the painting in the living room seems very off the shelf. It’s such a waste to have the privilege to own such a big home but everything in the house is so muted.

I do love the outdoor balcony and the powder room. They have the most characters out of the whole house. The tiles they used for the powder room is unique enough and blends well with the wallpaper.

P.S. I find it ironic that the owners don’t want a TV in the living room due to distraction but they have TV in every other room. Because of the TV in the bedroom, it reminds me of hotel room. 😅
