-
Point Zero Energy is well-known for their Titan solar generator, which is one of the best large solar generators on the market today. Over the summer, they released a short blog post introducing two new generators to their lineup, which are estimated to be released sometime in 2021.
-
These new power stations are called the Titan 2.0 and Helios. The Titan 2.0 is more along the lines of the original Titan, but with several upgrades. Some of these features include the ability to connect a LiFePO4 battery to its power module, WiFi connectivity, and the ability to parallel multiple systems together for the ultimate battery backup system.
-
The Helios has the LiFePO4 option as well as WiFi, but it will not be capable of paralleling multiple systems together. It will have a smaller inverter at half the size of the original Titan, and will also have half the maximum solar input as the original.
-
Both the 2.0 and Helios will have battery limiting and auto-balancing. Battery limiting will eliminate the generator from shutting down after using all of its battery, and the auto-balancing feature will allow you to attach multiple batteries together to the generator without needing to take any additional steps before attaching the battery. The original Titan did not have either of these features.

I’ve had the original/current Titan for about 6 months now and love it! Sure I had to wait a couple of months to get it, but what do you expect in the middle of a global pandemic and the SHTF prepper urge? At least PZE is up front about it before you order. I have 3 of the batteries stacked up and 2500 watts of solar (limited to 2000 input) coming in. I ran dedicated circuits to my garage freezer, two indoor refrigerator/freezers, and my home security and wi-fi router. When we got the PG&E power safety shutoffs I added extension cords to also run coffee maker, microwave, computers and entertainment for the whole family. The battery runs everything at night, and the solar recharges the battery and runs the loads during the day. I’ve only had to use a wall charger a few times so far when we had multiple days of dark, cloudy weather. I’m very impressed with the system. The upcoming new system sounds great too, and I might upgrade for some of the features. For example, I’d feel better with LiFePo batteries in my garage.

First thought on video: Seems there is a Lot you don’t know, think through, or research - Second thought, you stirred up Lots of replies - Most importantly, some from Zero Point Energy, with the Official response to important questions about the Titan, the New Upcoming Titan 2.0 and Helios - Stuff, that we All want to know ASAP - So, due to All That - and your honesty in just saying “I don’t know”, all is good… :)
(Note to those who are Waiting for their Titan - Ordered my Titan at the end of December, got it first week of May - Ordered an additional battery and Large 25A charger - Got those in 2 weeks or so - Titan, Looks very well made - Had a couple of issues, But the company seems to Really Really back their products…)

2 years later and still nothing. I saw it on their website but i guess they are plenty busy with the original.

We don't have all the information available for the new versions yet. But here is a little information we have:

The inverter size is the continuous load with two batteries. The surge will be double that.

The original Titan battery will not be compatible with the 2.0 or Helios, because the original is only 24V, and the Titan 2.0 and Helios is 48V.

To give you an idea on why you would want to parallel. Many people have 240V appliances that they would like to run (such as a well pump). Also with 240V, it can easily connect into the entire home electrical system and power the whole house (you need to parallel at least two Titans to get 240V).

Many people would like to eventually have an entire home backup, but don't want to start out spending $30-$90K for it. With the Titan 2.0, you can start out with one unit, and add onto it. Depending on what you run in your home, you may need more watts than just 3, 000. For example if they run a Range, it can take 5, 000 watts, and a water heater 4, 000 watts. With two Titans you could run up to 6, 000 watts continuous, and 12, 000 surge, but with 4 Titans you could run 12, 000 watts continuous and 24, 000 watts surge. Not to mention each Titan would also add the capability of 2, 000 more watts of solar (with 4 Titans you could have up to 8, 000 watts of solar).

So as you can see with this modular system, you could start with a simple portable backup for your essentials, but then upgrade to a full off-grid system that would run your entire home full time. You would also still have a portable system by taking just one Titan and a battery with you. This is also why we went with 48V. It is much more efficient at higher loads like running an entire home. 24V is fine for small loads, but you almost always see off-grid homes using 48V systems because of the better efficiency.

We are not sure what all the wifi features will be, but the main thing we needed was for people to be able to see the information from there phone. This is especially important for people that install these in an RV closet where they cannot easily see the battery meter. So it is mostly for informational purposes rather than control.

That battery limit/shutdown is basically the safety measures built into the battery. The original Titan battery will shut down if you overload it, and you would need to shut down the Titan, and turn it back on again. For example if you did not have the batteries balanced, and stacked one on top of the other, the surge would shut down one or both of the batteries until they are removed from each other. With the Titan 2.0 and Helios, it will just limit the current, and auto balance. This also applies to charging. If you charge from multiple sources with the original titan, and go over the charging limit of the battery, it will turn off until you turn off, and back on again. The Titan 2.0 and Helios will just limit the charge rate, but stay on, making it much more user friendly.

I'm considering building a small retirement house .
I will by necessity power it
off grid 24/7 w/solar - propane . As yet the Titan
solar generator w/ two or three extra batteries seems
to be My only semi practical
option . What do You think ?
How many solar panels ( how many watts ea panel )
How much $ for the system
& how much tx credit ?

Great information and well presented 👍

gas is a better option for short term backup, but these systems are much better off grid options and long term backup.

Sorry guys I am super new to solar generators and have a dumb question. We just installed solar panels on our roof, 27 panels.

Say we get a few of these new 2.0 generators, is there a way to use the roof panels somehow with the titan 2.0 generator? Thanks!

i will just add a few comments. higher voltage system = more efficient conversion and inversion. less losses in heat, etc.
the Lithium phosphate is safer because it does not have thermal runaway, it wont go up in flames like a Tesla.
Phosphate weight difference, I dont get it, since its not that much less energy density. what I do like its eco friendly, no metals.
the feature of current limiting instead of crowbar effect is very positive for users.
You answered your own question when you talked about why parallel units, main use will be in houses, which used line to line 240v for dryers, ranges, and other high current appliances. If you use two 2.0s together, you can supply 240v to even a home AC unit, where the Titan 2.0 can control proper phasing of AC voltage outputs from each unit.
I will be curious to see if they continue the 30amp connector, which is great for RV hookups, since I also believe it will be mainly a House market for Titan 2.0, maybe more mobile still for Helios.
I would like to see them do something like UPS with Titan 2.0 for stationary, and maybe ATS option for Helios for RV markets.

I am looking for 2000w solar generator with 2000wh battery that can be expanded if needed. I also want it to be portable in order to be used in the house during power outages. I also have a 4000w gas generator outside, but am concerned about running it in freezing weather, 0 to 32 F, below 0 C.

I would like to see more details on the new units especially the wifi connection feature which I hope would grant you more control over the unit. Nice video 👍

This raises an interesting question of decision making. With the original Titan it would simply be the more stackable batteries the better, but with the 2.0. you gotta wonder how many batteries would you stack before you'd instead rather buy a 2nd power station along with another set of panels?? Wow going from 3000 continuous to 6000 continuous would be HUGE!!!

some solar panels run 50V. I hope to get a titan and use four 470W panels to charge it. 2 times two in series.

Zero Point Energy is way way to slow to bring the titan to your door. There are other solar gens with just as much power ...same batteries better displays ....240v capable ...etc. Probably a good product but they need to step up there game soon .

Just to ship the Titan generator and one battery would cost shipping to Hawaii over $1, 000. Can't afford to pay that much for dead weight.

I have a bluetti 200, its good, I just wish I bought the titan instead however all the panels I got from bluetti are compatible with the titan. I'll be getting the 2.0 when it's released.
