Program

SONG 1: Cămara Ta, Mântuitorul meu. Your sanctuary, my Savior (by Nicolae Lungu), is one of the best known and full of spirit creations of this composer. This piece is sung for Matins and during the Great Lent, especially within the Passion Week. It represents the acknowledgement of our lack of preparation for the Kingdom of Heaven. “I see Your Bridal Chamber adorned, O my Saviour, and I have no wedding garment, that I may enter therein”. What is our “unfitted garment” if not a reflection of our soul heavily soiled with sins? However, we humbly pray Almighty Lord to illumine us through repentance.

SONG 2 : Doamne buzele mele. O Lord, my lips (by Gavriil Musicescu), is one the most representative works of his compositions, representing the influences of the time it was written combined with his vision upon religious music. The second part of the Concert interpreted this evening focuses on the great repentance Psalm 50, praising God for His endless forgiveness.

SONG 3 : Aliluia (slavonic). Alleluia (by Vasilev-Buglay, Dmitry Stepanovich), fulfills praising God in Heaven as an expression of highest worship.

SONG 4 : Catre Tine Doamne am strigat; Unto Thee, O Lord, I cried (by Marin Dârvă), was written in a time of great challenge in composer's life and represents a masterpiece of choral music. Prof. Marin Dârvă was the conductor of “Doina” choir from Hunedoara, Romania for 60 years.

SONG 5 : Dumnezeul Mantuirii Mele; GOD of my Salvation (Ioan Runcu), is one of the significant compositions of the Priest and Composer Ion Popescu-Runcu, a prominent personality in the field of Romanian Orthodox Choral Music. The work combines the tradition of Psaltic music with modern choral harmonisations. The work is intended for mixed choir and includes two soloists, highlighting the expressiveness and depth of the liturgical text.

SONG 6 : Cu glasul meu; With my voice (by A. Arhanghelsky), is a choral composition by a Russian composer and conductor known for his contributions to the Orthodox music. The original Russian title is "Гласом моим ко Господу воззвах" (Glasom moim ko Gospodu vozzvakh), translated as "With my voice to the Lord I have cried out". This work is a sacred concerto based on verses from Psalm 141(142):1, 2, 6 and Psalm 12(13):4.

SONG 7 : Doamne Auzi glasul meu; LORD hear my voice (by N. Lungu), is an emblematic choral composition by Nicolae Lungu, remarkable for its spiritual depth and musical complexity. This work, intended for mixed choir, is often performed in religious services and choral concerts.

SONG 8 : Oratoriu/Si Era la ora a sasea; And it was the sixth hour (by Gh. Mandicevschi), is a funeral song marking the Passion and Crucifixion of the Lord. Please do not applaud.

SONG 9 : Crucii Tale; To Your Cross (by G. Musicescu), is a musical expression of the veneration of the Holy Cross in the Orthodox tradition, intended for performance during religious services, especially during periods dedicated to the veneration of the Cross.

SONG 10 : STIHIRA A II-A DE LA VECERNIA GLASULUI 8 ; Voice 8 (by N. Lungu), In the Orthodox tradition, Stihiras are hymns sung during services, especially at Vespers and Matins. Each Stihira is associated with a specific musical tone, with eight tones rotating weekly.

SONG11 : MILUIEȘTE-MĂ DUMNEZEULE; HAVE MERCY ON ME, O GOD (Psalm 50) (by Gh. Cucu), is a musical interpretation of King David repentance Psalm 50.

SONG 12 : AZI CU TOTI SĂ PRĂZNUIM; TODAY LET'S ALL CELEBRATE (by Gh. Cucu), describes the triumphal entrance of Jesus Crist as Emperor in Jerusalem.

SONG 13 : VENIȚI NORII DE MULȚIME; Come clouds (by Gh. Cucu)
