Fun fact, sueca means "swedish woman" in both Portuguese and spanish. On my brief research, it says this is a game popular in many Portuguese countries (not surprising), though it seems like a rather odd name given the rank of the queen. I noticed similarities with this game and sheepshead, a favorite in my family. The odd ranking for cards, ace being worth 11 points, different points for getting 91 and 120 points.

This game can be played with Spanish or Italian playing cards. Sueca was originaly played with Spanish-suited Portuguese playing cards, like Italian playing cards the traditional Portuguese playing cards had no indexes and had just 40 cards. The Dame (or Sota) had value of 8, the Horse/Knight/Jack (Cavalo/Cavaleiro/Valete) the value of 9, and the King (Rei) the value of 10.
