I've seen this movie so many times, and still, every time I hear that horn, I feel this overwhelming mix of joy, relief, and an urge to cry. This is the best possible way someone could tell you "It's gonna be okay. We're gonna get you home." I can't even imagine how much more so that was felt by Phillips. I seem to recall from his book that the real Phillips knew he would be okay as soon as he heard the ship's name: Bainbridge. Her namesake was the guy who created the Merchant Marine.

My neighbor is a retired Chief, went to San Diego for boot camp as the last group of recruits before San Diego closed along with Orlando. The USS Boxer was his very last ship he was posted to and he took part in saving Captain Phillips. Hooyah.
