Exactly! I understood that straight away when I watched the movie as a child; Nuka is Scar's only biological child, yet Scar took Kovu in and wanted him to be king, which was why Zira favorited Kovu. The true mystery of Lion King 2 is who Vitani's parents are, since there's a lot of theories of that 😂

My theory is that he was taken from the dark lions that became the Night Pride. I even believe that he may have been related to Rani and Baliyo.
It would make sense if Zira attacked them, killed Ananda and Sahasi (Rani's parents), and stole Kovu.
That's my theory!

Even IF Kovu was Scar's son, the live action movie essentially splits Scar and Mufasa's blood relation. So it wouldn't matter either way.

Nuka is scar's son and is a runt. Scar named him Nuka which mean "rubbish". Scar could have had another lioness who gave birth to Kovu and Vitani...and had make Zira take care of Kovu.

I read once that originally they want to make Zira Scar's mate and Nuka, Vitani and Kovu where their cubs in a deleted scene.But they changed it so he wasn't related to Kiara

They actually started out like they did in the TLK's first movie :
In original drafts and notes for the movie, Sarabi and Sarafina were supposed to be sisters. Sarabi even had a different name. However they realized it would mean the main couple of the movie would be cousins if it was the case, so they changed Sarafina into Sarabi'd best friend instead.

In Simba's Pride, it was suggested that Kovu would be a biological son but I believe Eisner himself came by like it would mean the lead couple are cousins ! " and it was quickly scrapped.

this reminds me i just watched the sequal mufasa yesterday night and ill say it was pretty good but i like the other one and also that reminds me bc i just graduated from prim ary school entering a 6 year old boy leaving a 12 year old teen and in kindy (kindergarten) i did the lion king as my showcase and that was over 7-8 years ago and just watching the sequal made all the showcase memories come back because we the old lion king movie 🥹🥹🥺🥰🥲

Honestly that's what I like about kovu, yes he was the choosen one from scar but kovu never really became like Scar but instead became his true self, and got to have the life he never gotten befor when was a cub if it weren't for simba for telling him the truth of what Scar actually did to the pridelands.
