"this is the chaotic realm, hence all of the sepia tones" was not lost on me

See if I did a speedrun of this game I would simply get the 1 in 100 million luck

You're telling me that last month i played through this game for the first time i was wasting my time catering my equipment to the luck stat? That's funny

Thanks for covering some Aria! Was great to help out in a small way with this video

Edit: Watched the whole thing, IMO your best video to date. Super easy to follow, editing skills are getting unreal

Bro, I legit forgot I was watching one of your videos and when you were like "I'm here with one of the best Castlevania speedrunners." I was fully expecting you to say Dr4gonBlitz.

I always loved Aria of Sorrow, and it's bosses felt the hardest ever. Speedrunners always leave me in awe on how can a game be run.

Castlevania speedruns are so fascinating to dive into, all the minor optimizations and RNG manipulations are so cool to see!

This was my gateway Castlevania. Watching speedruns, especially recent developments on Julius runs with extreme zips is a higher level of pleasure.

I love the art of speedrun, so much strategy involved and all done in the shortest possible time, each run is unique.

Aria and Dawn are my two favorite games in the series. I spent many, many, many days and weeks collecting souls, playing and replaying the games and seeing someone beat it in less time than a coffee break is both amazing and very humbling in skill.

Great video explaining the basis of an entire speedrun in a short amount of time.

To clarify on zips, "human" Soma gets zipped upwards whereas any transformation (Bat, Manticore, etc.) zips horizontally opposite to the where you are looking.
Hence why, in the arena zip, being 2 pixels in a wall after Right + L (backdash) + R (Bat Transform) causes a zip to the left.
Also, loading from a suspend puts Soma in Human form where he entered the room.

As for where zips send you, there are two main types that rely on your X and Y position in a room and the memory address associated with a room.
If you leave a room on the left, you end up on the right of the room on its left, normal stuff. If this is via a zip, your X and Y position isn't that of any entrance/exit to the room and therefore in a wall/floor/pillar.
However, if there is no room to the left, the game takes some data which shouldn't be used as room's memory address as the memory address for a room....
Co-incidentally, this memory address can be the same as that of another room somewhere else in the castle and so it sends you to that room. As it still tries to account for your previous X and Y postion, this usually ends up in a wall.

You’re finding your meta with each video, DB. I fucking loved this one. It feels like when you take time during your streams to explain a mechanic or a route. The details, the thoroughness, and the humor are all here. Seriously great, dude 🤘🏻

Those Lubicants were the worst part of going for 100% achievements. I spent about 40 minutes in that one room before finally getting their soul to drop!

2:30 reminds me of a few skills in Shining Soul II that don't work, like the Dragonite's elemental resistance skill, which increases the visual number of your resistances, but the game doesn't take it into calculation
