From what I can see I think you can move your refineries one space closer to each other horizontally and power two with one power pole and a little helpful tip with the underground belts is you can use "r" to flip the flow when you make them going the wrong way on accident so you dont always have to pick up and replace Btw nice series its very interesting~

Tip: If your underground belts are running the wrong way, hover over one of the exits and press R to change the direction.

Tip: Once underground belts are placed (the pair) you can hover over them to see their direction and press 'r' to rotate/change their direction.
I noticed that a couple times you say incorrectly flowing underground belts and deleted the pair instead of rotating them. Ultimately do what you want/more comfortable with!

Awesome as always, I like that you try to keep the drudgery off camera to keep it interesting. I know it's a ton of off-camera fiddling to keep things entertaining but you produce consistently good videos, so keep on keepin' on.

The copper coil for red circuits will never be able to keep up. You should run a full belt of copper coil above the belt with plastic and coil, but from the other direction and pick them up with red inserters. Love the series!

Z, You don't need to have a train loop, you can put a locomotive on each end, and that solves your space issue.  It also makes a lot more sense in the long run.

You should really consider putting all of your labs on the same side of the science pack belt. You'd get back a good amount of horizontal space in an area where you seem to be very constrained. It will also make it easier to add in the blue/purple line when you get there.

The formula for fitting pipes in a line is 2n-1, where n is the number of rows used. To accomplish it you just need to stagger where pipes surface.

The right hand part of the balancer on the excess iron from the steel production isn't actually doing anything. All iron produced is on the right hand side of the belt before the splitter, so a simpler 2-wide balancer is actually sufficient and the right hand loop is redundant.

About the Science pack 3 math:
You actually need only 8 Assembling machines (AM) producing Advanced (=Red) circuits to support 12 Assembling machines producing Science pack 3.

8 AM produce 1 Advanced circuit per time unit
12 AM produce 1 Science pack 3 per time unit
To produce 1 Science pack 3 per time unit you need 1 Advanced circuit per time unit. Meaning you need 8 AM producing Advanced circuits for 12 AM producing Science pack 3.

(I use time unit in this context rather than second because of the crafting speed alter between AM tiers and theit modules: AM 1: 2*time unit=time in seconds, AM 2: 1.33*time unit=time in seconds, AM 3: 0.8*time unit=time in seconds)

I decided to do a world just like this for the fun of it and I had an even worse situation with trees than you did. I had ONE. After an while with only four power lines, I had developed enough to kill some bases to get, like two other trees for a shotgun. Pretty rediculous.
