Rigid Hub Clutches & Billet Single-Mass Flywheels

The question comes up a lot. People want to use an aluminum or other lightweight flywheel for the added engine response and power, but do not want to run a "race" clutch. In a J-Series Honda that means installing a stock clutch that has a rigid hub-which is normally used with a damped dual mas flywheel.

So, is there an actual problem running a clutch and flywheel system without any damping in it?

The answer is yes, it is totally fine. With a bit of adjustment of driving style, which really just means a bit more "blipping and slipping" to get off the line smoothly, you can have that light, smooth, quite OEM clutch and the benefit of the reduced rotational mass with a billet flywheel!

My only concern would be gear/transmission noise. Is that a factor with the lighter weight flywheel and/or combination with the clutch
