It looks so cozy, i love it. Isometric perspective reminds me of my days in STEM classes

This is the perspective you use when you forget the vanishing point lol

I love the simple cozy style that often comes with this perspective!

Isometric is specifically designed to have each axis/angle being equal to each other. "Iso" means equal and "metric" means measure. Usually, the 6 lines that define the axes are equidistant at 60 degrees!

imo, isometric is also great for figuring out the design of a space, both fictional and real. It's a great style for room design, since it lets you draw the room without worrying about vanishing points or what have you

"struggle with true perspective or struggle with visualizing 3d forms" thats me in a nutshell, why ive never been able to draw. its like that section of my brain just doesnt exist

Thank you for explaining why I couldn't draw one of these images properly using vanishing points. I was so frustrated.

There is just something so comforting about isometric drawings.

The style here reminds me a lot of Neko Atsume. Lovely!

I am taking my first engineering graphics class and the assignment included an isometric drawing. Seeing how artist play with perspective really helped me

The vanishing point perspective is great for dynamic scenes like cityscape, but this works so much better for making a cozy calm interior space.

I really like the style that the fixed line weight gives, and how you break up lines on the couch to show less rigid angles.

Isometric modeling was one of the first things I learned in my engineering classes, very fun 👍

I use isometric in pixel art, and there it's kinda simple making the grid, 1 pixel up, and 2 pixels to the side. But in normal illustration, if you have a way to measure angles, it's 30° or 45° from the horizon, depends on the angle you want the scene to be. So if you can angle the artboard and draw a sideways line, you're set!

Man, this brought me back to when I learned to hand-draft. Kind of a lost skill now, we have software to draft with, but my drafting teacher insisted I learn. Isometric view was my favorite. It took a bit of a change in how you draw, thinking more about angles and drawing on a very different grid than you're used to, but if done right, it's great at giving whoever makes a part a good idea of what you need it to look like while your other views show them the details.
