Been looking into these options lately, thanks for the info. I transformed my '88 4A-F in to 4A-FE with megasquirt, silvertop itb's, cams, light flywheel, etc. but it has various problems (too large itb's = too much air not being the tiniest of problems). Looked at 4A-GE and 4A-GZE, but they go for around 2000€ in my area, and they are kinda "relics of the past". 2ZZ-GE was the next option, but it goes for even more, around 2500-3500€ depending if it comes with ecu+wiring+gearbox.

What I've been most interested in is 1ZZ-FE. It does not give lots of power, but is easy to swap as the gearbox stays the same -> old axles can be propably used. You can swap other 1ZZ-FE ecus in there, so getting one from Celica or MR2 nets you a default 130-140HP instead of 110-120HP that they have put in Corollas, Avensis, etc. on that engine. And as my AE92 is carburetor from factory, it has no old wiring harnesses to chop of or left unused. Just getting rid of the wiring harness of Megasquirt, and install the harness from a 1ZZ-FE in it's place :)

Well, if you are so techically inclined, you can drop any motor you want into the chassis. One will be harder than the other. But so are the engines on you list.
I've seen people drop in Toyota V6 engines, V8's and even the iconic 2JZ engine in a AE92 chassis.

Just a case of how much fab work you want to do/can do to your engine setup and chassis and how much money you want to pour into it really.

I would have mentioned the 4a-gze as well. Yes, they are getting harder to find, but that same goes for the 4a-ge 20V engines. There is a limited supply unfortunalty.

And in these parts of the world, the 2zz-ge made around 180 to 190hp in stock trim. So even beter than the 160 you stated.

Just found the vid, been looking for a KE70 project and a swap for it. The 2ZZ is a great call, but what about the 2ZR? We have a ton of those in Europe as they came in the Yaris t-sport. It even has a supercharger version that was fitted into the Lotus Elise, making 217bhp. I bet theres a way to cobble up a compatible aftermarket lotus sc to it and mate it to maybe the original gearbox, or try to get the Lotus gearbox and rear diff as well. That sounds like a mean thing, although the Lotus parts are gonna cost, so better if we stay Toyota aside from the sc.

I’m assuming I need a new carb as I’m sure it’s just having a hard time getting gas but my mechanics and I can’t figure out what carb to get. Any idea what a good aftermarket one would be?
