Love all these quick tips. Don't always have 10-20 minutes to watch the longer videos. But with these quick tips, I can watch and then go try them out! Thank you!

Not only leverage... precision. The same amount of handle travel further out, corresponds to a smaller angular variation on the handle.

Exactly why I adjusted my brake and clutch position to suit my natural position of my hands to grip. Making the motorcycle adjust to me, and not so much the opposite. Great vid for awareness anyway. Thanks

Been doing this for a while and it is a great tool for the arsenal! Even with short levers and ABS, I can still lift the rear wheel by braking on the outside of the lever. Plenty of power!

When I installed aftermarket levers onto my bike, I made a point to shift the perches for the clutch and brake lever inward so I could get maximum comfort and leverage on my levers from where my hand was comfortable.
Stuff like this is why its important to learn how to work on your bike. The more time you put into your bike and yourself, the better the communication between you and the bike.

Also, it's a larger range of movement, so you can be more precise and gentle with the brakes.

I do like these short clips. But often they make me wondering how I could have survived 20 years of motorcycle riding without any accident when I do everything wrong!?! 🤔

Personally I just use middle and ring finger, while it has less strength than the index finger, the ring finger is longer and if you're pulling the lever further to the right it would also take a lot less effort. I find using the index and middle and having to adjust it to point to the right is an awkward position.

I couldn't get smooth stops on my latest bike, even though I did everything the same as I always have. Which may be different but comfortable to me. I use my first finger and thumb for throttle and the others on the break. I tried as you suggested to move my hand to the outside which didn't work. Then I tried using my first two fingers on the brake strange and it makes no sense to me but now I can make smooth stops which I finish with rear brakes. Thanks for going over something that is simple and may never be thought of.

Or if you have room on your handlebars you can loosen the front brake lever and slide it to the left so you can keep the same purchase on the hand grip but be pulling closer to the end of the front brake.

I discovered this exact thing on my current road trip. A number of times I found I just wasn’t stopping/slowing down fast enough. It was because I have my hand to far to the inside of the handlebar. I’ll work on this for the last 800 miles of my trip.

90% of the time I keep my pointer finger and thumb around the throttle and use my remaining 3 fingers on the brake. It does what you’re talking about a little so I’m at least a finger width down the brake lever. Thanks for the tip.

Another quick fact I never even thought about. Thanks!

My right hand naturally sits that far out when I'm riding. I thought I was wrong and had been trying to correct it.

I've seen a lot of people with their hands moved out on the bar... so I've been trying it, not at all natural for me. I don't feel too terrible about it, though, as I've done a whole many years racing thing and rode at the front and won some with my hand in the close in position.
