I like kitty cats because not only do they look like mini panthers 😻 but because they clean themselves, they don't smell, they don't slobber over everything, they're light so when they jump on you or lay on you it doesn't knock you over, and most importantly, even if they're meowy like my Princess Penny they are QUIET. I love my peace and quiet and kitties are conducive to that environment.

My kitty cats Fritz Zwicky and Penny Dreadful are not aloof at all either! They are very cuddly and they often follow me around 😹 Penny is a stray rescue so she is a bit skittish around other people and it takes her a while to warm up to anyone but me, but Fritz is a little social butterfly and loves other people immediately.

I think dogs are cute but I could never live with one and I hate it when you go to a dog owner's house and let their dog jump on you... plus they usually bark at EVERY-THING 🙉

Apart from short breaks after a cat has died. I have had cats around all my life. I haven't had a dog as a pet since childhood, but i did look after a neighbour's German Shepherd for 12 month's while they were overseas and really enjoyed that. I suppose I am a cat lover first, but i think all animals are wonderful. About 40 years ago I had a budgerigar named Charlie who is up there with my favourite pet cats. In the last few years i have lived with PTSD, my cats have really helped me cope with that.

We had a cat named Pebbles and she was a tortie too. Pebbles was diagnosed with a slight heart murmur at 3 years old. She passed away about 4 years ago aged nearly 21.

Interesting contrast on the last point, and I admit I do fall into the majority of cat people who would not keep the dog. I would foster the dog if there were no other options and try to find it a better home than I know I would give it, because I just plain don't have the patience to treat a dog the way they deserve to be cared for and I'm aware of that. So I'll hand the puppy over to someone who would love and give it the life it deserved, because the dog can't help being a dog and still deserves love.

My friend has three cats that I cat sit for...would never trade them for dogs...I would miss all the judgemental looks...the watching me in the morning cleaning their litter boxes and food/water bowls...the inspection after the cleaning of the litter box, and refilling of bowls...and the looks of amazement when dummy me actually does it right...yeah, they think they're smarter, but they still need me to open that can of food... 🐈🐈🐈...😁

Through my grade school years, we lived on a farm, so there were always barn cats to play with. We also had a cat or two that was allowed in the house. We always had a dog too. Once I reached adulthood and moved away from my parents' home, I had to have a cat for companionship. I've had up to seven cats in the house, indoor only, and now I just have four. I never considered getting a dog for myself, due to the problem of my work hours and the hassle of it having to go outside vs. the convenience of the cats' litter boxes.
