Signal Hill,, Cape Town. Sunset, Picnic, Paragliding. Super Adventure and View of Table Mountain
Показать описание
We stayed for a while at Sea Point and decided to visit Signal Hill for three reasons:
- explore the adventurous area,
- view the adrenaline-junky paragliders launching, and
- participate in the most romantic sunset picnic Cape Town can offer.
We were astounded by the breathtaking views, majestic cloud tablecloth over Table Mountain, the friendly people, and the jaw dropping sunset from Signal Hill. This is surely a Cape Town Bucket List excursion you need to experience.
We loved the entire afternoon and stayed to late the night sipping on our lovely wine..
Fun Facts:
- Signal Hill, which connects Kloof Nek to Lion’s Head, in the distinctive shape of a lion’s rump, is one of the most famous spots in Cape Town for sundowners.
- Views from the 350m high summit are nothing short of spectacular, particularly at night, and picnic dinners with accompanying drinks is something of a capital pastime.
- The Signal Hill was used to send out gunshots as signals to alert people in times of need or if there was an emergency. Even today, the Dutch naval guns exist atop the Signal Hill and at 12:00 noon, gunshots are fired on to the air, thus earning it the name as “Noon Gun.”
- Did you know South Africa’s Astronomical Observatory makes its crescent moon observations from here, as it’s an excellent place for spotting the most difficult crescents.
- In the evenings Signal Hill is a little like ‘lovers lane’ - popular with couples who are up there to enjoy the lights and the romance of the Table Mountain backdrop, particularly during summer when Table Mountain is lit at night.
