13-year-old Denise was diagnosed with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis that was progressing too fast. Her parents decided to seek treatment at King’s with Dr Nicandro Figueiredo - Spinal Neurosurgeon.
Dr Nicandro recommended surgery because Denise’s case was quite severe and could not be treated conservatively. The procedure took about 8 hours to complete, and it was smooth-sailing for the patient from there on; her spine went from being severely curved to almost normal.
