i think you havent understood the meaning of the song. When they sing alcohol is free they mean that the Greeks even if they are having economical problems and losing their jobs and having a bad time...they dont lose their hope and their zest for life.Alcohol represents the fun and ''kefi'' that Greeks find even in such dark periods.It represents how strong as people the Greeks are and how no difficulty can knock them down.
