How Eminem Wrote Lose Yourself

Eminem's writing process for “Lose Yourself” was super weird and the story is unbelievable. Eminem was filming 8 Mile and in between scenes he would write the song in his trailer. But Eminem didn’t just write between shooting, he even wrote while he was in an actual scene! This is because Eminem had a scene where he wrote raps on a bus and Eminem didn’t want to waste any time. Eminem wrote real verses and the piece of paper in the scene is the same paper Eminem wrote “Lose Yourself” on. Eminem’s castmates said while everyone else was having lunch or hanging out between takes, Eminem was writing verses. Eminem then recorded the song in a portable studio on set while he was on break from shooting and used one take for each verse. But you won’t believe what happened when the song “Lose Yourself” was nominated for Best Original Song at the Grammys, Eminem didn’t think he would win the Grammy so he stayed at home with his daughter instead. Eminem said when he won the award he was asleep on the couch watching cartoons with his daughter.
