NEW! ZT Knives 0707 - Watch this BEFORE you Purchase! Warning!

I rarely use my channel to throw shade on any product, but I recently purchased a ZT 0707 Carbon Fiber / Titanium knife on Launch. Purchase 6/17/2020 and received on 6/20/2020. It's obviously defective on the first batch of these (mine is serial # 0333). Now the first thing you may say is "Have you contacted ZT??" The last time I contacted ZT with a defective issue, they wanted me to ship it back at my expense (fine, no problem) and then pay $7 as a fee to repair/replace under warranty!! I'll be contacting ZT on 6/22/2020 and will report back.

Mine has been flipping fine. The double detent does keep the blade from freely swinging when the lockbar is pushed back, but opening and closing have been fine on mine (and I expect will get even smoother as it wears in).

I'm a simple man. When I see a RC channel posting knife videos, I click "like". That being said, I personally carry a limited edition G10 Benchmade Bugout as my EDC and I have a decent collection of Benchmade knives. I looked into ZT knives when I first started shopping around for a top shelf knife brand, but I couldn't justify the price of ZT knives, even though I was making the switch from Kershaw knives to a higher end brand. The bearing was the main difference between ZT and Benchmade and it wasn't worth the extra money to me when I could get a midrange Benchmade for the same cost as an entry level ZT and get what in my opinion is slightly better materials on the Benchmade

I've seen three reviews on this product and they were all very positive. Did you try to loosen the pivot. That model has their new true detent system and as such has a little more pressure on the blade tang. You might try opening it up to take a look . There is at least one great disassembly video on YouTube.

Yikes! Try out a Benchmade, as many others have suggested. I have a, going on 5 years old, Barrage 580 that has taken all manners of beating over the years. Opening mechanism has never failed in that time, with a nice lubing every once in awhile. 580 model is a bit on the big side as an EDC knife, but that is my only complaint... which, really, isn't even a complaint.

Zt added a second detent just like the old emersons. I would guess this is adjusted wrong. It can likely be adjusted by the end user. If the blade is too loose extend it out a bit and if its too tight back it off. Its also possible the lockbar tension is off. I would send it back to zt or return it if its in brand new condition. If you try to fix it look up videos about tuning dual detent emersons this will be identical.

yikes- thanks for putting this out there! I almost pulled the trigger on one of these. Looking forward to seeing how they rectify the issue and what's causing it. At that price point, that's really unacceptable

Have you written ZT ? No knife company, no matter how expensive, is perfect. Bet they'd make it right asap

Shame you had to make a video.... I see they have responded on here and emailed you as well. I tried to get into knives but the sold out limited run collector market is not for me. I can drive to the Spyderco showroom and pick up what I want luckily.
