Why We Must Evangelize

How are we to talk about Jesus to someone who does not believe the way we do? Although Christianity is growing worldwide, in America we are experiencing a decrease of church attendance. Of the recent church growth, only 3% is a result of evangelism. Another study suggests that less than 3% of professing Christians actively share the Gospel. Many of us go to worship services and we gather with other believers in community or Bible studies. Occasionally we engage in humanitarian or international trips, but very few of us feel comfortable articulating the truthfulness of Christ’s death and resurrection to a peer outside of the church who does not believe the way we do. These types of conversations become even more awkward in our culture when the discussion turns to ethical issues like same-sex orientation, political issues, and “narrow-minded” religion.
